This degeneration of laminate is caused by a chemical reaction that takes place between the water and residues of incomplete catalyst of polyester. The water even through the gel coat old, damaged or not good quality reacts with the chemical components producing substances alkyd resins. These substances create pressure behind the gel coat, which produces bubbles that in turn, cause the split of the property. The verification of the presence of osmosis is accomplished by electronic instrumentation able to determine the percentage of water on the fibreglass. The Boat is lift and after at least 48 hours, with dry surface, shall inspect. |
